Zulfiqar Ali, a Pakistani national, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the trafficking of heroin. He purchased approximately 250 grams of heroin from a fugitive named Rafiz Sondri at Hotel Mercury, Jakarta. The heroin was mixed with crushed Panadol tablets and packaged into three small plastic bags.
Together with an accomplice, Ginong Pratidina alias Dina, Zulfiqar gave the package to a foreign national named Gurdip Singh alias Vishal. Gurdip was instructed to deliver the heroin to Malang in exchange for USD 2,000. The drugs were discovered hidden inside his socks during an inspection at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport before departure.
Zulfiqar was alleged to have orchestrated the entire operation: from purchasing, mixing, and packaging the heroin, to helping arrange a flight ticket for the courier. He was arrested several months later at his residence in Villa Tugu, Cisarua, Bogor.
